Our clients left the city to settle in a home that would capture a serene beauty while being flexible enough to accommodate their visiting children and grandchildren. They wanted the home to be fun and inviting, and for their art collection to inspire the color progressions throughout. Beautiful inherited antiques are mixed with fun transitional pieces for a fresh and updated look. Their playfulness is shown in various details, like the concealed slide in the living room that descends to the basement bunkroom. We took this sense of fun into our design approach, using a neutral palette throughout the house and selected bold colors from the artwork for accents. For example, the high gloss green bar takes its shade from the landscape on the wall and its hardware sets a uniquely sophisticated tone. The lighting throughout was an opportunity for the unexpected, such as the chandelier composed of a burst of butterflies above the dining table. The home presents itself through balance, scale, and tone, providing both the stature to support an art collection, and the tranquility our clients envisioned.

An original summer estate in Baltimore was remodeled for two professionals with an impressive art collection. They wanted to update the house to make it warm and inviting for their family to enjoy. The home had been stripped of all original interior millwork and detailing so we were brought in to recreate the story of the estate as originally intended. We chose a soft gold and blue palette in the entry to compliment the crisp white paneling that was added to give the foyer gorgeous architectural detail. Graceful millwork detailing, two stately banquettes and a custom faux painted blue marble table provide a beautiful first impression. The contemporary art collection allowed us to play with color throughout as backdrops. A series of Donald Sultan prints in the dining room is set against rich royal blue lacquer walls under a metallic silver ceiling. The library’s green leather club chair and pouf refer to the pop of green in the painting over the fireplace. Throughout, this home celebrates an impeccable modern art collection while remaining a warm and inviting home.

A sports-loving family wanted a warm and welcoming home with playful features and a casual vibe. The entry hall is an impactful first impression that features a custom rug in a beautiful blue and gray palette. These colors are repeated throughout the home giving it a beautiful sense of cohesiveness. The rooms flow together making a larger home feel warm and serene. The simple, graceful dining room is unfussy with white paneled walls and custom built-in cabinets. The adjoining bar area uses a darker, more intimate shade of blue that adds a playful sophistication to evening cocktails while a shuffleboard table under the windows reminds you that this home is for play. A standout feature of the house is the lower-level game room and sports bar featuring a pool table and golf simulator. A mural of our client's favorite hole at Pebble Beach adds to the fun. This home is everything our clients wished for and more. A fun and welcoming home for family time and entertaining.
